Forced Marriage
30 June 2026
This Call for Papers follows two main objectives. The first is to document the persistence of forced marriage in contemporary society, beyond religious or cultural contexts, as well as the associated forms of gender-based violence, in order to deconstruct and challenge stereotypes that hinder prevention and protection efforts. The second is to increase, in quantitative terms, the volume of academic research on forced marriage. Regarding this second objective, the call for papers is directed toward a specific audience that calls for further research and would benefit from greater knowledge of this issue: policymakers. These contributions aim to support policymakers in strengthening the recognition of forced marriage as a form of gender-based violence, while improving both the protection of victims and the legal and institutional responses available to them.
