The theme “gender equality and women’s empowerment in rural areas” thus invites in-depth reflection on the contribution of social science research to progress for women—progress that ultimately benefits society as a whole. The aim of this workshop is therefore to bring together social scientists to engage in constructive discussions about the forms of support (moral, physical, financial, institutional, symbolic) to be provided to rural women, particularly in crisis situations, in order to promote a renewed commitment to inclusive development that prioritizes gender equality in Cameroon, in line with the country’s international obligations under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
