Gender Studies is an exciting area of research, exploring gender relations in the past, present and future. This taught programme has ESRC 1+3 training recognition, which means that it stands alone as an MA but will also prepare you for doctoral research in this dynamic field. You’ll be introduced to the key principles, approaches and theories in gender studies and examine issues that both shape and are shaped by gender relations, such as family roles, reproductive technologies, citizenship, sexuality and culture. Beyond this, you’ll choose from optional modules to develop specialist knowledge in an area that suits your interests. In addition, you’ll learn to analyse qualitative and quantitative data, giving you the skills to become a specialist social science researcher, including preparing you for MPhil or PhD level study in gender. With the support of tutors in our Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies, you’ll gain valuable skills in a research-intensive environment.
